Yaki was a "modern izakaya" serving Japanese-style yakitori, regionally-inspired small plates, and creative house cocktails. In the early stages of conceiving the restaurant and the visual identity, a choice for name was "Yakizaki" which roughly translated into "drunken chicken." While the name was later shortened to simply "Yaki," the imagery of a rose-cheeked chicken persisted.
